Russian Spy Caught At Uk Embassy
A British security guard at the British Embassy in Moscow has been sentenced to jail for spying for Russia. Stephen J. Egan, who was employed by the embassy for 10 years, was found guilty of passing confidential documents to a Russian contact. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison by a Moscow court. This case is a shocking example of the lengths that Russia is willing to go to in order to gain access to sensitive information. It is a reminder that even the most secure of facilities such as the British Embassy is not immune from foreign interference. Egan's actions have damaged the UK's reputation abroad and have left Britain's security vulnerable. The repercussions of this case are yet to be seen.

Punishing only one person in such a serious crime is not enough and a mockery of justice. This is another failure of the Home Office who left the UK unguarded, and its people vulnerable, and the Home Minister does not mind to share critical information via personal email. All the Home Minister’s current display of actions (English channel, Rwanda) is nothing but inaction.

i dont understand how intelligence agencies are ok with Evgeny Lebedev sitting in the house of lords. russian intelligence agencies could easily make him gather information whether he wants to or not.
Earnest Equivocation
Shouldn’t we arrest the whole of the Johnson Govt over it’s ‘actively ignoring Russian attempts to influence UK politics’? I mean these were the words of the Govt’s own prestigious Select Defence Committee weren’t they? Or should we check with the son of the KGB agent, the Lord of Siberia?

A short sentence like that encourages this sort of crime. Betraying the UK is onething. But to the Russians of all people. That’s just tragic.

Another inadequate sentence. It should have been 20 years minimum.
